Our Instructors
All our instructors share a passion and a love for dogs. Between us we combine years of experience in teaching, dog training and canine behaviour. We hope to be able to share this with you, too!

JULES CLAPHAM
Agility, Scentwork, KCGC
Jules is an accomplished horsewoman with an immense knowledge of equine training and health, specialising in behaviour and rehabilition.
She currently owns two springer spaniels and two working sheepdogs. Both spaniels completed their gun dog tests. Jules has taught gundog classes, agility and pet obedience and regularly takes in dogs for home care or fostering.
Jules has a keen interest in agility and currently competes at KC G7 and UKA Champ. She is currently one of only six Accredited Instructors with the KC for competitive agility. She is a KC approved Agility Judge, a scentwork UK Level 4 Instructor. and has passed the host assessment for Scentwork uk and Detection Dog Trails. She is also a Scentwork Uk and Detection Dog trials judge.
CARLI PIKE
Canicross
Carli has been around dogs all her life. She is an accomplished horsewoman working extensively with behavioural issues and rehabilitation.
She currently owns a terrier, and when not busy being a Mum to four children she runs regularly with two springer spaniels in Canicross.
Carli is a Canicross Trainer. She teaches our Canicross classes and is a certified trainer for Group lessons, 1-2-1 training and 'Boot Camp' classes (yes, you really do get Boot Camps in Canicross!)
KAREN THOMPSON
KCGC
Karen has spent over 40 years working as a professional groomer in various locations and has run her own business Trim Dogs since 1996
She started training her own dogs in 1979 and started competing in 1980 with a little collie x, Becky. Training and competing in obedience quickly took over her life and she competed with a succession of dogs most weekends for over 30 years.She qualified two dogs up to Open C (the highest level in open shows) and became a Kennel Club Obedience judge in 1995, judging all over the south of england and was honoured to travel to Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany a few times where British style obedience competitions are just starting to take off. After 30+ years a change direction has lead to agility where she now competes with a wonderful collie, Twix.
She has been teaching classes, starting at Basingstoke DTC since 1992 and has instructed all levels including puppies, Good Citizens classes and competitive obedience, also doing some private 1-2-1 sessions
She is an advocate for positive reinforcement and a more thorough understanding and appreciation of the dog and it's individual personality. As well as being effective she always try to make training fun for both dog and handler.
